Sheet stock in acrylic, kept on the shelf in Honolulu. This one is Gray, Med. Tint (#2064).
Light passes through acrylic slightly better than through window glass, and it carries a fraction of the weight, which is why it is the usual choice wherever glass would be heavy, fragile or overhead. This is extruded sheet, which holds a tighter thickness tolerance and is the more economical choice where the cut edge will not be on show.
