Edge Profiles

Edge Profiles

Profiling of edges creates added dimension to the finished product. A profile can also be functional through elimination of the sharp edges or corners and improving the handling ability of items.

Here are a few edge profiles we offer:

Round over is a rolled edge similar to the upper edge of a countertop.  The edge is shaped to create a waterfall profile to remove the sharp edge.

A bevel is made by cutting a sharp corner at 45 degrees to create a flat, blunt edge, similar to a diamond’s different facets.  This flat surface removes the corner or edge to form a 45 degree facet and adds dimension to the edge.

We offer two types of bevels, either a shoulder bevel or full bevel:

  1. Shoulder Bevel – A 45 degree cut is applied to only half the materials thickness.
  2. Full Bevel – A 45 degree cut is applied to the full material thickness. Like a ramp starting from the bottom and ending at materials full thickness.
Countersinks are relief cuts made to holes that allows the use of countersunk hardware. Countersink screws will sit flush to the material’s surface and do not protrude like a traditional round-headed screw.

A rabbet is a recess or groove along the materials perimeter to create a ledge, flange, recess, or lap.

For simple objects, we are able to vectorize features with a specified dimension provided by the customer. For more complex designs, like logos, we ask that a graphic designer provides us a vector file.
